Leta Eyre Marchant

My Mom wonders why I like this picture so much because she is in the yard in her work clothes and topping off the beets. I feel a really strong connection to it and have it framed in my dining room because it represents what Mom is to me. She is one of the hardest working women I know. She loves to be outside arranging her rock garden, playing in her flowers, working in the yard and gardening. It also represents to me the love she had/has for her family by enabling us to eat home grown food , teaching us the value of hard work and then teaching me to can that food to use during the winter when fresh isn't as plentiful. I have gardened and canned since I was a very young bride thanks to her example. She is a young 81, but it's not easy for her to navigate the yard any longer because of bad knees and arthritis. When she can no longer work in her yard, I will have this picture burned in my memory of the way it was. She is the best Mom I know...truly. I love her dearly.

Happy Mother's Day Mom.
