Once a year I have to take a picture of my Christmas cactus. Last year it bloomed from Thanksgiving until almost Easter. I had never seen anything like it before, especially since it didn't even bloom the first 5 years that I had it. I pretty much ignore it, just giving it the basic necessities of life....water only when it begs and the perfect north facing window. This year there wasn't so much as one little swollen bud at Christmas. Then a few days after, I saw one, then the next day another and by the end of the week it was covered. And now, true to form, it is covered and giving me all kinds of joy. My plant was a start form my Mom's cactus that was a start from her mother's that was originally my great grandmother's plant. My daughters both have starts now too. Amy's bloomed last year, but Colett's hasn't yet. Maybe next year.

It is gorgeous! My grandmother had a Christmas cactus that always bloomed. . .I would probably kill one.

I don't know if mine will ever bloom again! A little certain "someone" enjoyed pulling off some of the leaves and I'm pretty sure it sent the plant into shock! I'm crossing my fingers for next year!

A dear friend gave me her Christmas cactus a few years ago when they moved and it was killed by a real unexpected cold snap recently. I'm glad I have a photo of it in full bloom but I dread having to tell her that it bit the dust. Like yours, it bloomed profusely for many years and we really enjoyed it !
