There are several remedies for getting skunk smell out of things such as your dog's fur. I always cringe when I let my dog out and I can sell the skunk fragrance in the air. Now I will know what to do and hope that I NEVER have to use it if my dogs gets hit. I hate that smell more than about anything else I can think of.
Mix 32 ounces of hydrogen peroxide with a quarter cup of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of liquid dish detergent and apply to dog's coat. Let it stay on for 10 minutes, rinse and repeat. It should work like a charm and is waaaaaaaay better than tomato juice. Ah the joys of pet ownership.

Our dog got a direct hit from a skunk when I was a teen...my Mom used something similar but the poor dog was sick for days from the scent stuck in his nose...imagine how skunk must smell to dogs. Thank goodness he recovered !!!
