Appetizers

I love holiday baking, eating and celebrating. It's the time of year when you make things you would not ordinarily make. Wayne makes a killer mint brownie from scratch that isn't too minty and it's soft and fudgy inside. I get them once a year if I'm lucky. (I wasn't so lucky last year as he was going to make them for my birthday in January but never got around to it.) This year he HAS to make them or sleep on the couch. I love crab stuffed mushrooms, the little mini quiche's, brochette, etc. I was going to make some orderves for a party I was going to so I went to all the cooking links I have and I typed in orderves. Now I know that is not how it's spelled, but I thought it would say " did you mean orderves?" giving me the correct spelling but nope, nada. Then I typed in hor d' orves, nuthin. Then I typed in hor d' ourves. Still not right. I cannot spell it for the life of me. I can't even look it up because you have to have at least part of the word right to take you there. I couldn't find it in my paper dictionary either. Hmmmmm. What to do? I never did find it. I just looked up "appetizers" for a partial list of things to make. Today as I was going over my email, the word came upon the screen. I copied it, and pasted it to my documents file so I will have the word at the tip on my tongue any time I want. And if you don't know how to spell orderves it is : hors d' oeuvres.
Now if I am away from my computer, will I remember? No, will you?

Must be the hardest word in the English language to spell. I can never get it right and I could live on "hors d' oeuvres" (and dessert).

No, I will not remember that. I will just go ahead and spell them "whore derves" since I am a food whore the whole month of December! Who can resist all the yummy goodness!?
