1. Amy and E stayed until early afternoon and then went home since the weather is cooler now. She had to replace all 4 tires on her car for $600. She has a Subaru and if one tire goes bad you have to change them all. Wes is cleaning windows in Park City to earn extra money for just such things.
2. I thought Amy and I would both be unable to move about today but we are both OK. She now is 3 days from her due date on the 8th.
3. The wind blew so hard today. I know it was 60 miles an hour but there may have been gusts much higher. It was garbage day and so everyone's dumpsters blew over and all the garbage flew into my yard with the north wind. My yard looked like a garbage dump. Amy and my neighbor came and helped pick it up. I had 3 of the large dumpsters fly into my yard. One ended up almost hitting Amy. She jumped out of the way and it lit upside down over one of my boxwoods and then hit two of my outdoor light. I hope they are not broken. I ran to my neighbors a few houses down and uprighted one of his dumpsters just in time for the garbage truck. I had papers, boxes, bottles, a pitcher, and everything else from at least 4 neighbors. I know that because their kid's homework was here. I also found one of my neighbor's bank
statements in my flower bed so her mail must have blown out too.
4. I'm too tired to cook and it's too windy to go anywhere. I had cereal and Wayne had a ham and cheese sandwich for dinner and then we watched the National Geographic channel. One show was about a Hutterite colony in Montana. it was a very liberal colony and not at all like the ones we used to do business with.
5. Fozzie was scratching so much that I knew I had to break down and give him a bath and haircut which takes a long time and neither of us really likes the process. I gave him a summer "do" and found a little round ball embedded in his back. I had to dig it
out. It looked like a tiny ball and I don't know what it was. It was not a tick or any other bug and it looked like buckshot but since he is never outside except to potty, it must be some kind of a part of a plant. The poor little guy. Colett had felt it yesterday. It's too bad they can't talk and tell us when things hurt.

1. I usually do all my chores on Monday, but had to wait since the girls and I had planned a shopping trip to Park City for today. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to go since my back is still so bad, but I took 4 Ibuprofin and an Aleve plus a Lidocaine patch on my back and went. I actually didn't do too badly since I was only walking. I did find a few summer clothes and at great prices. They actually have the summer items on sale and have been getting in winter clothes already. Most of the things I got were $7 to $15 each. Amy got some things for E and the baby and Colett scored on sale items for her kids and herself. We ate at Arby's and then went to T.J. Maxx and found a few more things. We also went to Whole foods and I got some broccoli salad and some grilled zucchini for dinner.
2. The weather was very hot today (set a new record at 97 degrees) but in Park City it was probably 10 degrees less so it was pleasant. The garden is really liking the sun and heat.
3. We took my car to P.C. since I get good mileage. Colett drives a Suburban. Need I say more? We had to stop in Heber for construction for 20 minutes and then another 10 or so later down the road, and then we had to drive slow by a million orange barrels and so we lost a little time and gas mileage. I am beginning to hate orange barrels and cones. They are all around us they have been a constant thing for 2-3 years now.
4. Wes and Amy spent the night since it is so hot and they don't have air conditioning. Their swamp cooler is not up and going.
5. I am tired and hurt but not as much as I thought I would be by the end of the day. It was fun and I love being with my girls and grand kids. They were amazingly good all day.

1. Emerson has been coughing a lot so I decided not to take him to church with me. Amy is not up to sitting, and with my back hurting so much I only went to Sacrament Meeting. Ruth Burr lead the music for me in Relief Society.
2. The weather is just wonderful and warm and I sat outside a lot. Wayne bought me a camp lounge chair a couple of years ago and I just sat in it on the grass and watched the world go by.
3. Colett and family joined us for dinner. Wayne made chicken breasts wrapped in foil and grilled outside, Amy made a salad, Colett brought strawberry shortcake and I.... sat some potato chips on the counter.
4. Emerson and Millie played badminton, Matt and Nick threw around the football, and Amy and I continued to sit.
5. Millie stayed the night with us tonight since there is no school tomorrow and Emerson was so happy. They play so well together even though they are 4 years apart in age. Millie loves to mother and Emerson lets her. Isabelle took a test (CRT) or something like that ??? at the end of school . She aced it with a score of 98%.

1. Ruth Burr's birthday today. She is a special friend and I am so glad to have been her friend and visiting teaching partner for 10 years.
2. I have hurt my back and don't know how. I can hardly move. This happened one other time many years ago. I don't know if it was from yard work or sleeping wrong. UGH!
3. Wayne worked in the yard and then we went to lunch at a new Mexican restaurant in Sandy for fajitas. They were good but there was only chicken and onions and no peppers which I missed. There are so any good Mexican restaurants here to choose from that I don't know if we will go back.
4. Amy and E came and spent the night. Wes has been working and she doesn't want to be alone in case she goes into labor. She is due in less than a week now.
5. I did not do my New Year's resolution in reading a magazine every day. I still haven't caught up. I did read three today though and threw them in the recycle bin. I need my closet space back. I am tearing out pages that really appeal to me if they are recipes or house ideas and will file them.

1. It is National Doughnut day and I didn't get one. Darn!!
2. I read a book today called "Earthing". It is very unusual to say the least. It is about relieving pain and getting better health by going barefoot on the grass for 30 minutes a day or by sleeping on a sheet woven with silver connected to a rod stuck in the ground.
EarthingInstitute.net
3. We went to dinner with the Utley's and I had rare steak. It was amazingly good. We always have a good time with them.
4. I shampooed some spots on the carpet, vacuumed, cleaned toilets again because of the yucky water, I read in my Relief Society "Daughters in My Kingdom" book and am so thankful for the early women of the church. Their dedication and service is incomparable.
5. We found that we have a second robin's nest in the apple tree. All this time when the robin parents were scolding us, I thought they were the same ones. Apparently we missed out on the other babies leaving the nest.
6. Nick has a football scrimmage tonight. It is his first as a high school student. I can't believe he is that old. It makes me kind of sad. We were talking last night about when he was 4 years old and thought he was Superman. He would hold out his hand to pull me along.

1. There is something wrong with our water and I want it to be checked. I have to clean the toilet every day or there is a rusty sediment all over the bowl. I have to clean it every day or it looks like I haven't for months. I poured in soda and let it sit, then vinegar and finally Clorox. It is better, but still faintly there.
2. We ate at home again. I had eggs and toast, and Wayne finished up the goulash. It cleans out the fridge and we like doing this once in a while.
3. I finished my book (600+ pages). It was called "The Time in Between". It is a novel of Portugal, Spain, England and Germany during WW11. It was a spy novel and I really enjoyed it a lot. I love historical fiction and I learned a lot that I did not know. The author had based her characters around real people and circumstances.
4. I made 4 greeting cards for graduation and birthdays.
5. I cleaned my one shelf today. I clean only one drawer or one shelf per day. That way I never have to Spring clean. By the end of the month they are all done with no stress.

1. We ate dinner at home again.....tilapia with lemon, green salad and a little Yukon gold potato.
2. The wind is horrible again but the temps are mild and lovely.
3. Amy came over after she and Emerson went to the splash park for their play group. We sat out in the yard, watched the birds and we played badminton with Emerson. He was getting so he could hit it pretty good and was having a great time. He did not want to leave when the time came. It made me feel good that he likes being with us.
4. I read for a couple of hours today and when Emerson saw my book he said "Grandma, you sure like to read a lot. Why do you"? He is right. And the answer is "just because".
5. My hummingbirds are very protective of the feeder. They fight over it now and actually head butt each other. The baby robins are flying and look like they are 3/4 grown already. The bluebird was back.

1. I caught up on the chores I usually do on Monday since it was a holiday yesterday.
2. The flag is still flying on my house. I love the way it looks in a breeze and I especially love the really big ones that businesses fly year round. When the wind is just right, it actually waves and it makes me so proud that I am an American. I will need to take mine down though because we have such horrible winds that the bottom is tearing. I will either have to fix it or burn it.
3. Ate at home tonight. We are trying to eat at home a little more often. Sometimes it costs more to eat at home than go out, but I am sure it is healthier when you know what you are getting. We had goulash made with my homemade tomato juice. Wayne made it and thought he was seasoning it with paprika but poured cloves in it. I had to put it all in a colander and wash it. I could taste a faint hint of cloves but it wasn't bad.
4. Talked to Colett for a while on the phone. They have had some stress lately and I think it helps to talk it out. I am so glad she feels she can call me. I will always have her back.

1. The flags are out, the weather is a perfect 72 degrees and we worked in the yard again. I snipped 14 of the boxwoods into shape, Wayne mowed, weeded and fixed broken sprinklers and we planted a few more petunias.
2. We went to the cemetery where my great Grandma and Grandpa Eyre are buried. I took a butcher knife and cut the grass away form the stones and cleaned them. They have left me a great legacy and I am so proud to be their granddaughter. When I was looking for their graves, I asked an older man if he knew the section we were in. He asked who I was looking for and he asked if I know a Kevin Eyre, I said no, and he said good. Apparently Kevin he is a lawyer and screwed him out of $30,000 dollars. I said (of course) he's no relation. ha ha
3. We went to Pei Wei for lunch and I had lettuce wraps and a child portion of low mein. Wayne had sesame chicken, fried rice and an egg roll. They also had orange slices for your water along with lemon slices. I don't know why we don't go more often. It was really, really good.
4. I had looked up a grave for Wayne's uncle but we didn't find it. I got the coordinates for it and we will try again some week-end. He had no children and at one time had asked Wayne to go to California to work for him. He did not go of course and his life would have been so different if he had gone. He would not have me so it wasn't meant to be.
5. We drove around American Fork on a road we had never been on again. It is next to the cemetery and there is a town rec center and park there. We have been here 10 years and have never seen it. We need to continue to go on the road less taken.
6. I read myself to sleep after remembering the freedom of our country thanks to all the soldiers who made it that way for us. I am very thankful.

1. Sunday's talks were all about service. This is an area where I feel I am lacking. I have so many good examples in front of me all the time but I just don't always seem to see what needs to be done. I am willing but need to work harder at seeing what nees to be done.
2. It is a lovely day. There is still some wind but it feels like Spring. Wayne and I went for a Sunday drive. We haven't done that for a long time. We founds roads right around us that we haven't been on and found some amazing sub-divisions with McMansions that are incredible. I wouldn't want to live among them. I am very happy with my nice, comfortable home and neighborhood.
3. The yard is looking good after our work yesterday. The birds are at the feeders, the flowers are growing, the grass is green and hasn't been sunburned yet, the skies are clearing up, and the baby robins are flying around.
4. Rice pudding, turkey and dressing, salad and homemade bread....mmmmmm
5. Fozzie is excited to see us even if we have only been gone 10 minutes. Dogs are so loyal. Margaret's pretty white dog Daisy passed away and I have been thinking of her and feeling so sorry for her. Fozzie loves her so much. She will have to come and visit more often to get some slobbery kisses and unconditional love.

1. Alex called and said he got his birthday card and thanked us for the money She said he is getting some new shoes with it. He wasn't home when we called him last night because he worked at the pre-school all day and then went to DJ a dance until 10.
2. I got my flowers planted and got the flower gardens weeded but found out I needed more flowers so we went to Lowe's and got more.
3. I got a new finch feeder with a tray on the bottom. I'm hoping that saves a lot of feed from being lost and it also has the tiny finch holes so the wind won't blow the seed out. It wasn't long before they showed up for dinner. One was really red and so cute and they reward me with their beautiful songs. There were 3 hummingbirds, and a pair of doves today too. The baby robins are still here and they are learning to fly. One flew into the side of the house though so needs a little more practice. The parents are still bringing them worms and put up a fit when we are close to the babies. They especially don't like Fozzie in the yard.
4. We went to our gourmet dinner group tonight. We had salmon marinated in soy and brown sugar, spinach salad, a fruit tray, risotto with asparagus and goat cheese, and our corn that we worked on yesterday. For dessert we had a banana cake. Everything is always so good and the company so grand.
5. I actually got a 15 minute nap this afternoon. I started to read and just couldn't keep my eyes opened. I don't want to take sleep medication so after many sleepless nights, I just crash for a few minutes. I need to remember to take Ibuprofen each night. I have arthritis in my leg and hip and I toss a lot in the night because of pain.

1. Today is Alex's birthday. He is 18 and I just don't see how that is possible. 2 years ago we didn't know if he would live through the night. They let his friends come to the hospital to see him. After his surgeries, he is doing well and is ready to face the world.
2. Shon made it home to his family this weekend and they are going to pack up a bunch of stuff to take back to Hamilton or put in storage. They are more than ready to be together again. It has been too long.
3. I talked to Amy today. She had her appointment yesterday and although the baby has dropped, she is not dilating yet. She will probably go the whole next week at least.
Emerson keeps asking her every day if the baby is coming out today. She said he has been so good this week.
4. Wayne and I practiced making grilled corn for our gourmet dinner tomorrow. I think we have it figured out and it tastes just right. He grills the corn on the BBQ then transfers it to a frying pan and adds adobo sauce, lime juice, roasted red peppers, a tiny bit of chopped bacon, cilantro, chipoltle sauce and liquid smoke. The sweet of the corn against the tiny bit of heat and saltiness of the chipoltle sauce and smokey flavor makes it a favorite of mine now.
5. Dinner at 5 guys tonight. He forgot to order the small burger so I took off the bun and ate it with a fork. Because of wrecks on the interstate, it took him 1 1/2 hours to get home. He is getting tired of that. I guess that's what happens when you are getting to that retirement age. It's kind of like a kid with senioritis, but he can't graduate yet.

1. Read a while and got about 100 pages done. It's a good story...a little raw in places.
2. Made dinner early so we could go to the movie. Wayne got two free movie tickets to go to the Thanksgiving Point theatre. We saw "The "Avengers". I was surprised that I like it as much as I did. It was a long movie....2 1/2 hours but it went quickly. It was in
3-D. I loved it but Wayne said he would rather see it on the regular screen. It gave him a head ache. The Avengers will be back and we will go.
3. Why does theatre popcorn taste so good and why can't you get the same flavor at home? The theatre remodeled and added several more theatres along with food, a new entrance and flowers in front. It is so nice!!
4. It was a nice day but still a chill in the air and at night you still need a hoodie.
5. I worked on my photo files on the computer. It took me many hours to organize and delete duplicates. My neck has a knot in it and I can hardly move from sitting in one position. I am ready to get a new thumb drive to back everything up. It was fun looking at all the photos of the grand kids when they were little. There were some of Millie and Emerson that just made me want to crawl through the monitor to hug them.

1. My new book has 600 pages. I think that's as long as "Gone With the Wind". This one might take me a while. So far it's pretty good.
2. I have been keeping my craft room tidy. I made Alex a birthday card and immediately put everything away. It only takes 5 minutes to wreck the room so in order to be creative, I need neatness. The only problem is, I haven't gotten anything done yet, just creative thinking.
3. My brother Ned is on Facebook now and has posted some photos. I love having an extra little connection to him. Just seeing and hearing from him a little more often is fun.
4. I watched the last show of "American Idol". I hardly like any of the singers. They are all screamers and it drives me nuts. Even the guest artists they had on screamed. Whatever happened to just singing a nice tune? The girl that came in 2nd place has a good voice. The winner was nice and charming, but I would NEVER buy his albums, but them Idol is not for my age group.
5. The garden is growing well, but last night the temp got down to 40 and it scared me a little. I am counting on it to not freeze. I can't afford another $300 for annuals.
2. I have been keeping my craft room tidy. I made Alex a birthday card and immediately put everything away. It only takes 5 minutes to wreck the room so in order to be creative, I need neatness. The only problem is, I haven't gotten anything done yet, just creative thinking.

1. I was going to do nothing today so my foot and leg could get back to normal, but I didn't so it's pretty swollen. I'll do better tomorrow.
2. My visiting teachers came today. We had a good discussion about unseen ministering angels. Becky told me about a time when her baby arched her back and fell out of her husband's arms on the sidewalk. She was watching and as the baby fell, she could see how an unseen power lifted her onto the grass. She was not hurt.
3. Fozzie loves visitors and barks whenever they leave. He LOVES company and thinks once they are here they should never leave.
4. Wayne hasn't gotten the water system hooked up to the deck plants yet so I will water them by hand until next weekend when he can get them adjusted.
5. I hate the wind.

1. When I got up this morning my leg was hurting so much that I worried about standing on it tonight for my concert. I put Ibuprofen in my purse to take before the concert starts. It is hard standing in one place for 4 hours.
2. My robin Mommy is teaching her babies to fly and has a fit when we go out in the yard. The baby still chirps for worms, and the parents are continually taking care of them. It is very touching to see how much the parents care for their babies.
3. I did laundry, and the usual housework but I can see where I will need to do some blind and ceiling dusting soon. Fozzie also needs grooming so the rest of my week will be busy.
4. My concert went very well. All our hard work paid off. The Lincoln Academy was not the best place to sing. The room was too cavernous and the air conditioning hummed but we rented a grand piano and the chorus was prepared. I was happy to see the Lemon's and the Garside's there too.
5. Wayne took me to the "Smart Cookie" for ice cream and a cookie since I didn't get dinner. They have the best dark chocolate/walnut chocolate chip cookie ever.

1. Today is my hubby's birthday. He is now 65 and considered a bonified senior citizen. Never in my dreams did I think I would be married to one, but boy am I glad I am.
2. The meetings were good today. The choir sang a number with the accompaniment of the Drigg's boys playing their violins. M'Kay graduates so it might be a long time before we hear him again. I am amazed at how talented, good and smart the youth in my neighbor are. Four girls are graduating and the all have 4.0 grade averages and are involved in service and many organizations.
3. We had a birthday dinner for Wayne and Wes. Wayne wanted pulled pork and because I don't know how to make it, and he likes his so well, he cooked it. I made a chocolate cream pie and a no-bake cheesecake. I chopped up fresh strawberries and mixed them with a big dollop of Wayne's blackberry jam. After sitting for a few hours, it turned into a great topping for the cheesecake. We just had raw broccoli and carrots with dips and a pasta salad. All was so good and again, we almost licked the platter clean.
4. I had dress rehearsal for my chorus concert tonight so had to miss the rest of the birthday party. I missed Wayne opening his presents and the eating of the cakes and taking pictures. Apparently the family sat outside since the weather was so good (for a change on Sunday), and watched the kids play badminton. Wayne said it was "good".
5. It was a full eclipse of the sun today. The neighbors were even having an eclipse party. We didn't have anything with which to look at the sun and since I was at chorus, that too mas missed.

1. Margaret came over early and we practiced our song again. I think we are ready.
2. Millie's baptism was at her Uncle Ralph's home. A member of their bishopric was there to officiate. She was baptised in the spa tub. The water came clear up to her neck, but she is a little fish and was not scared even slightly. Her Daddy confirmed her and gave a beautiful blessing, her Grandma Yarro gave her a book and gave a lovely talk on the holy ghost, her brother Nick gave a talk on baptism, Margaret and I sang, I played prelude and Margaret directed. Her Uncles helped with her confirmation and it was a very special day for a very special girl.
3. We had a luncheon after the baptism. We had punch, rolls, meats and cheeses, fruit trays, salad, crackers and dip, and the famous Dear Lizzie cupcakes and Kneaders bread pudding. I had to be really careful as I ate a little salad and since it had a lot of celery, I stopped and spit it in my napkin. I need to make sure I get an epi-pen from my doctor the next time I go to see him. The kids jumped on the trampoline and swam in the pool and the adults just visited for a while.
4. We went to several plant nurseries and finished getting all the flowers I want in the yard. All of the nurseries this year have wonderful plants. I keep thinking I will plant some myself in March, but it never happens. I think the reason is, I love to wander the nurseries and I would miss it too much. Picking out the best plants is a very fun thing for me.
5. We went grocery shopping and there was a guy at Smith's giving away a free plastic garnish knives is you listened to a little demo. I haven't tried it yet but I think I will cut up an apple like he showed. The kids will love it.

1. Margaret and I are singing a duet at Millie's baptism tomorrow so she came over and we practiced again. I think the songs we are doing are so special and her arrangement even more so. It's fun to sing with someone who has the same vibrato pattern and similar voice. I guess that is because we are sisters.
2. Wayne and I went out and had grilled Chicken and salad for dinner. I find that we have chicken very often these days. I thank all the chickens who gave their lives for our meals. I know you are supposed to know where your food comes from but in my case, I just pray it's safe and I don't want to think of it, just to eat it.
3. We went to Lowe's and got a new spray nozzle for the hose. We keep buying them but they break. This time we got an all metal one and I hope it lasts longer than a year or two. I love spraying my flowers and watching them practically grow before my eyes in this weather.
4. I spent some time trying to organize my photos again but I have a long way to go. About every 6 months it takes me hours to do it. I keep making new folders and downloading new pictures and they kind of pile up on me. I love to looking at them though, and I have a new screen saver that shows me several every few seconds.
5. I can see the baby robins in my tree now. They are pretty sheltered but I can see two little heads when they start crying that they are hungry. The gang hasn't been back.
6. Amy is having her B/H contractions often and she thinks the baby is soon to come.

!. Wayne took the day off. He has several weeks of vacation saved up now. He went out and pulled up the morning glory and crab grass that is growing like crazy in this nice weather. It is a never ending battle.
2. Today was little Emerson's pre-school graduation. We went and it was the sweetest thing. I will put photos on my other blog. Way to go E. Then we went to lunch at Hire's.
3. I went over my chorus songs and feel like I am ready for the concert.
4. Chorus tonight was LONG!!!!! We started at 7:50 and didn't get home until almost 11:00. I enjoy it so much but will be glad when I can stay home on Thursday for a few months. My foot has been hurting so much and sanding there for 3 hours about did me in.
5. Wayne took me to the mall so I could spend my gift certificate from Mother's Day. I found a shirt and pants at JCP and another top at Eddie Bauer. I do need some summer clothes. I hadn't been to Eddie Bauer for a while and was shocked at how much their clothes had gone up in price, much more than other stores for some reason. A plain button down blouse was $60 to $70. I did not buy those. Some of the men's casual shirts were $70. I will wait for the sales only.
